Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Sick and tired of paying for resume services and want to do it on your own?

Okay so you have completed your resume and you are really happy about it – you have the correct buzz words scattered across, you think the format is right on, you posted on multiple job websites, you even emailed friends and family for feedback and you have even gotten good responses, but you are getting very few if any bites from employers. So, what is the deal? Well, it could very well be that you did not put any thought into putting some out-of-the-box attention grabbers on your resume. Attention grabbers that pertain to you – that says something about you or what you are willing and can do.

Below is a list on some attention grabbers you can put in your resume that you might of not even thought about:

• Willing To Relocate. This of course is easier said than done, but if you are open to relocating, make a list of cities and states in which you are willing to reside. Make sure that these cities and states are beneficial to the whole family that is if you have one. If you put this phrase/attention grabber on your resume, it may just be the reason you have a job offer.

• Willing To Travel. I mean who wouldn’t like to travel for a company especially if you get to travel overseas. When you put willing to travel on your resume make sure you put percentages.

• Bilingual. If you speak a second language, do not even hesitate to put it on your resume. This is an extreme keyword/attention grabber especially if the company is international.

• Non-Smoker. Yes, this is a little unfair, but you might be surprised if you send this message out to the employer that you are a low health risk.

• Dual Specialties. Multiple companies are looking to do more with less, so if you have “the more” that is a good sign. Dual Specialties is basically just wearing two hats. So if you have two positions that you are capable of doing, put it on your resume.

If you put these 5 keywords and/or phrases at the top corners of your resume, it will make you stand out from the crowd. Think about what will grab each employers’ attention and put those attention grabbers on your resume.

Other attention grabbers you can include are below:
• Willing to Cross-train
• Certifications instead of the word Proficient
• Hardware Packages (Computer, Electrical, etc.)
• Software Packages (Dream Weaver, PhotoShop, etc.)

If you feel that you require more assistance with your resume and the use of attention grabbers/keywords you could always speak with professional resume services that will help you define your needs and goals to make your resume stand out from the rest.
